Finally, the day has come that all fans of free-to-play war games on Xbox 360 have been waiting for. Wargaming has finally revealed World of Tanks’ official release date on Microsoft’s console (yes, we are referring to the “old” console generation). After an extended closed beta with several open beta weekends, the studio behind the game set in World War 2 is proud to announce the global release of World of Tanks’ Xbox 360 Edition on February 12th, 2014.
The game will be available for free for Xbox Live Gold account holders (yes, we are aware of the irony, since Xbox Live Gold members technically pay for their account, which means that calling the game free-to-play is debatable). The game has specifically been produced for the console and will feature revamped controls, revised matchmaking, a new user interface, and other features that make use of the console’s technological capabilities.
When the game is released next week, more than 100 tanks from three separate nations, namely the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom will be available. Naturally, the publishers are planning on constantly adding new content to the title.
