The voxel based sandbox RPG Trove is getting its first major expansion of the year. The Mantle of Power has now been previewed on the game’s official website, and it looks like it will bring a plethora of new content and features to the roleplaying adventure. While players can look forward to 10 new character levels, 4 new types of elemental Adventure Worlds, and 3 new Uber world difficulties, the preview shines a light on one feature in particular – empowered class abilities.
The Empowered Gems will certainly add an entirely new layer of strategy and customization to Trove. The gems will allow players to modify their character class’ abilities. A new tab is added to the character sheet giving players the chance to add Gems and Empowered Gems and improving their characters in unique ways. The gem slots can be unlocked at levels 10, 18, 24, and 28 while the Empowered Gem slots unlock at level 21, 26, and 30. For example, the Gunslinger gets an overcharged shot at the expense of attack speed, the Neon Ninja trades his shuriken for a massive buzzsaw that cuts through enemies, and the Shadow Hunter turns his basic attack into a stream of arrows at the expense of energy. There’s a lot more to explore, as every class can make use of Empowered Gems.
There will also be several gems that can be universally used by all classes. The Pyrodisc erupts into a flaming disc after defeating enemies and the Mired Mojo will randomly be triggered whenever characters deal damage spawning a ring of snaring projectiles which reduce movement speed.
Players will also have the ability to level up their gems to give them even more power. However, they can also crack and fail, so it makes sense to take good care of them.
The Mantle of Power expansion will be released on April 26th. Players can also pre-order the packs to get early access on April 19th.
