Sometimes, publishers and developers choose to give new updates for video games a unique name so that their community doesn’t only have to refer to patch XY. Usually, the updates are named after the central new feature or content that is being added. We have no idea though why the folks over at Mojang have decided to call their new patch for Minecraft – Pocket Edition “Friendly Update”. Maybe it’s because the studio is so unbelievably friendly to add so many new features to the sandbox game?
It’s true that version 0.15, which launches for Minecraft – Pocket Edition as well as the Windows 10 version of the game, is particularly extensive. Players will be excited to hear that pistons are finally being added to the mobile version of the sandbox game. The Minecraft – Pocket Edition community can finally build complex machines, as can be seen in the sneak peek trailer that Mojang released. The talented folks over at Blockworks have created a very creative chain reaction using these new building blocks.
The Friendly Update also brings horses and dyeable horse armor to the open world game. Additionally, players will be able to ride pigs once the new patch launches. As if that wasn’t enough, the Minecraft communities will be brought closer together as Pocket Edition players will be able to play online with their Xbox-Live friends. There will also be new enemy types, new villages in the savanna, and the new observer blocks that can observe the state of nearby blocks.
Mojang has not yet announced a release date for the Friendly Update, but we will keep you posted!
