While most games usually get hit with new content in a regular basis, turning a title into an entire franchise doesn’t happen very often. According to Nexon, MapleStory is getting just that treatment next year. MapleStory 2 will set itself apart from its predecessor by having a different art style, 3D graphics and featuring a unique world filled with never before seen monsters and creatures.

Running through the colorful fantasy world of the upcoming prequel should still remind players of the MapleStory saga, but also be a completely fresh experience for both newbies and experienced anime buffs. Due to the minimalistic nature of the official game homepage, not much information has been revealed on MapleStory 2 other than it being a casual MMORPG and coming out in 2014.
It’s unclear whether MapleStory 2 will have only gone into beta testing by the end of next year or if the publisher plans to have it fully released by then. One thing is for certain, though: Avid roleplaying fans can look forward to go up against menacing robots, cuddle with fluffy sheep and face a gaggle of other cutesy characters with beady eyes.
Stay tuned for more details!
