The digital monsters are back, and this time, they are making themselves comfortable on your smartphones and tablets in Digimon Heroes!
Looking back to the turn of the century, it seems ludicrous that the media created certain rivalries. Remember the Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears rivalry? How about The Simpsons and Family Guy? It’s funny how certain things seem very similar and like they would rival each other at first, but then develop into very different directions. The best example for such a development are the Pokémon and Digimon franchises. Aside from the “mon” at the end of their names, these two franchises don’t have too much in common and yet you couldn’t refer to Digimon without mentioning Pikachu and co. More than 15 years later, both series have created their very own independent universes that are cherished by their communities. While Digimon fans have been able to enjoy the franchise on PCs for quite a while already thanks to Digimon Masters, it has taken until now for them to be able to bring Agumon, Patamon, and co. wherever they go!
Digimon Heroes is the franchise’s first excursion to Android smartphones and tablets as well as iPhones and iPads. The free-to-play app is a trading card game that features intense card battles with more than 1000 digital monsters from the series. This allows for a plethora of content and hours of action-packed, strategic battles against others. Digimon Heroes combines the trading card game genre with a unique match-3 battle system, which allows you to learn and master the devastating powers of the digital monsters. Of course, each Digimon has a unique set of abilities, powers, and attacks that you should familiarize yourself with in order to defeat all opponents. The title also features some massive combos that you can chain together to destroy even the strongest of opponents.
If you are a fan of the franchise, you will be happy to hear that you can collect and choose from over 1000 different Digimon spanning the entire series. If you aren’t familiar with any of the monsters, you can look forward to discovering hundreds of unique creatures ranging from common to legendary.
Any Digimon that joins your team can also be further trained and strengthened. You can choose to digifuse, digivolve, and even break through their limits to unleash their full power. Get ready for some epic battles against other players.
While the app is available for free in the Google Play Store and on iTunes, be aware that the title features some microtransactions!
