Last week, the Finnish development studio Supercell released a new update for their free-to-play mobile game Clash Royale. While the tower defense community might desperately await new content, the patch only focuses on balancing some aspects of the gameplay. Various cards were tweaked to make sure that online duels are more balanced. Take the Royal Giant for example. Supercell has decreased the hit speed from 1.5 seconds to 1.7 seconds. He is still a force to be reckoned with, but not quite as invincible as he was before.
A few other cards have also been weakened a little bit. The stun duration for “Zap” has been decreased to 0.5 seconds from 1 seconds. The area damage radius for the Princess has gone down by 25% and the Ice Wizard’s hit points by 5%. The patch didn’t only weaken powerful cards, but also strengthened some weaker ones. The Baby Dragon’s hit speed was increased from 1.8 seconds to 1.6 seconds. Other characters deal more damage now. The Dark Prince was increased by 7.5%, the P.E.K.K.A. by 5%, the Archers by 2%, and the Prince by 2%.
Additionally, Supercell has decreased the cast time for The Log by a whopping 66%, while increasing its travel speed by 20%. Last but not least, the Golem’s and the Golemite’s hit and death damage as well as their hitpoints were increased.
Supercell has announced that they will make it their goal to release a balancing patch every month from now on. The studio is particularly interested in examining the game’s stats -which cards are used how often and which cards are more likely to win a match? This will give them an even better idea of which cards might need to be tweaked.
