Ubisoft surely is busy these days with developing and releasing mobile games. After Rayman Fiesta Run and Assassin's Creed Pirates follows a new game in the Assassin’s Creed franchise that will completely reinvent the series. The publisher announced a brand new mobile game that will come out for iPhones, iPads, and iPods later this summer.

According to the official press release, Assassin’s Creed Memories will be a card-battle game with roleplaying and strategic elements. Unfortunately, our first reaction to this description is slight disappointment, as it sounds somewhat generic and uncreative. It makes it seem as though Ubisoft were simply making use of its well-known brand to jump on the TGC bandwagon which is momentarily dominated by free-to-play games such as Hearthstone.

We do not want to judge the mobile game prematurely, however, and are interested in finding out how the app will span various periods in time including Colonial America and Renaissance Italy. Judging from the first pieces of artwork, Assassin’s Creed Memories will also feature a female assassin - probably because a card game does not involve actually animating a female avatar...

Woohoo! Girl power in Assassin's Creed!

The mobile game has recently been soft-launched in Australia. The international release will follow this summer. We will keep you posted.
