One thing that you will notice about Armored Warfare is that there is a whole bunch of different ammo types. Each class has various ammo to choose from, ranging from Armor Piercing, High Explosive, and even Missiles that can be guided on the target. We are here to help you make sense of it all.
This is the bread and butter of a tank commander’s arsenal. It’s the type of ammo that you’re going to want to be using most of the time. The Armor Piercing shell have the highest chance of reliable penetration on a target when compared to the other types of ammo available. For this reason, it is the most commonly used shell.
These do exactly what it says on the tin. Whenever they hit a target, they explode. The problem is that they don’t penetrate if fired from a distance, and can be severely hindered by even a small amount of armor on the enemy vehicle. This means that High Explosive shells tend to be less favored by players, as they do not reliably do the same amount of damage as Armor Piercing or Shaped Charges. If you can penetrate a tank with an HE shell though, you'll do a lot of damage.
This type of ammo is something that new players of the free-to-play game sometimes have problems understanding. This type of shell can potentially do more damage than Armor Piercing shells, but have lower penetration as a tradeoff. The unfortunate thing about these shells is that their damage can be completely negated by certain types of armor, so you need to know when it’s a good time to use them.
Anti-Tank Guided Missile
Not all vehicles have these mounted, but they are a lot of fun if you do have one. This is quite simply an anti-tank weapon, often called an AGMT. The main downside of using this weapon is that your tank has to be standing still, meaning you are a sitting duck for enemy fire, and often find yourself getting blown up if you’re not careful about your positioning when using the missile.
We hope this has made it a little clearer which type of ammo to use while playing Armored Warfare. If you want to know more, check out our guide to classes or click the button below to play the free tank game now!
